Summary:

In the past few years, we have seen an increase in regulatory activities by governments worldwide: the EU finalised MiCA and is working on more regulations that will change the landscape for crypto-asset service providers and crypto assets in Europe and beyond. In addition, we have seen decisive enforcement actions by the U.S. authorities towards crypto. Furthermore, there are already indications that there will soon be a MiCA II covering DeFi and lending.

At the same time, international organisations like IOSCO, OECD, FSB and FATF will soon release new reports and positions on DeFi. What influence do those organisations have on national regulation and the future of DeFi worldwide? Who are the members of those international organisations, and whose interests do they represent? What can we expect to be included in the MiCA II text? Is it possible to influence and inform the legislative process?

These are some of the questions that will be covered during the workshops. We will also explore the effect regulation will have on the design of protocols, DAOs, DeFi, and other web3-related (d)apps as laws become more precise and specifically address the crypto industry.
